The Canadian Apprenticeship Service Program
To support hiring apprentices in the manufacturing and construction industry, the federal government has implemented a new program, which provides eligible employers with up to $20,000 in funding for first-year hires in 39 different Red Seal Trades.
In order to be eligible for the funding, employers in the manufacturing and construction industry must have less than 500 paid employees.
There are two grants available that employers may apply for, per year, for up to two apprentice positions as follows:
$5,000 for hiring a first-year apprentice, or
$10,000 for hiring a first-year apprentice if they identify as a woman, new Canadian, LGBTQ2+, Indigenous, a person with a disability, or a visible minority.
