Ontario Catch up Payments

The Ontario government has announced the Catch Up Payments program to help parents offset the costs of their children catching up on their education. This program provides eligible parents with a one-time payment of either $200 or $250 based on the following:

 

  • $200 per student between kindergarten and Grade 12, up to age 18

  • $250 per student with special education needs between kindergarten and Grade 12, up to age 21

 

The program requires parents to apply for funding through the Government of Ontario Website by March 31, 2023. The secure application portal can be found online at Ontario Catch-Up Payment Application.

 

In order to be eligible for the program, both the parent(s) and the child(ren) must meet the eligibility requirements as follows:

 

Parents

  • Live in Ontario

  • Parent or guardian to a student from kindergarten to Grade 12

  • Secondary school student who is 18 years of age

  • Parent or guardian to a student from kindergarten up to age 21 with special education needs

 

Children

  • Enrolled in kindergarten to Grade 12 and are up to 18 years old

  • Enrolled in kindergarten to Grade 12 and are up to 21 years old with special education needs

And:

  • Attend one of the following types of schools:

    • Publicly funded school

    • Privately funded school

    • First Nation-operated or federally-operated school

    • Homeschooled
