The payment will be administered as part of the GST credit and made via direct deposit or a cheque from the CRA. There is no application process, and the CRA will determine eligibility based on income and the number of children in a household. You must have filed your 2021 personal income tax return to be considered for the rebate.
The average rebates for those meeting eligibility requirements are as follows:
$225 for seniors
$234 for individuals
$467 for families with two children.
Unfortunately, it is expected the news of the rebate will result in an increase in targeted scams. As a reminder, the CRA will not send you a text message or email asking you to click on a link to receive a refund, and the CRA will not call you asking you to apply for the rebate. If you received any of these messages or phone calls and are unsure, please do not hesitate to contact our office and ask for assistance determining their legitimacy.
