Canada Housing Benefit Top Up
Applications for the one-time top-up to the Canada Housing Benefit have now opened, which aims to provide eligible low-income renters with a tax-free payment of $500.
Applications will be accepted until March 31, 2023 and can be done directly through your CRA My Account. If you do not have a CRA My Account, you can also apply online using their Online Application Form, or by phone at 1-800-282-8079.
If you apply by phone, you will need the following documents:
Social insurance number (SIN)
Full name and date of birth
Complete address
Assessed tax return, noa tice of assessment or reassessment, other tax documents, or be signed into CRA My Account
